Yeehaw!!! DGHD has a new partner in crime/life – Lepers Produtcions. Lepers is a free netlabel located in Bari, Italy, that’s been spreading their fungus since 2500 B.C., and DGHD has the proud distinction of being their new U.S. distro. They have been putting out some absolute bangers over the years, and after talking it over with Lepers CEO Giuseppe [aka Superfreak] it made perfect sense that DGHD combine it’s efforts with the Texans from Bari. On top of carrying a few [extremely limited!!] copies of their more recent material, I’ll be re-releasing some of their older content that I think the DGHD General User Base™ would get a kick out of.
The first re-release from the Lepers back catalog is actually two releases – Bread Pitt’s Ipseon (2007) & Non Fate Allarme (2008). Bread Pitt is a noise-punk band from Altamura that absolutely rips, and I was so blown away with their borzoi-core riffs I was absolutely forced to share. They’ve been inactive for close to a decade, and have around 6 releases, but these two were my favorites. Here’s a write-up I found a Lepers provided for their last.fm page:
N+1+1+1 met in Bread’s Town, at the end of 2001, while attending the course for the release of Mushroom’s Picking European Patent. Getting flunked the examination, they create an almost music band: Bread Pitt. With their early recordings, collected in their first cd (L’origine della specie, 2001) they joined in Accidental Badly Recorded Music Manifest, edited in Bhopal from the International Futilist.
A fierce struggle inside the International lead to Bread Pitt’s isolation and exile on Monte Scorzone. In 2002, while in Italy and worldwide a debate on majors, indies or self-production was spreading, Bread Pitt came back to the masses with the revolutionary idea of no-production: they don’t play, they don’t record, they don’t master, nobody drops a line on them, but soon they become one of the mostly typed names on search engines (while I’m writing this lines, almost 1.696.372.356.340 web pages are on “Bread Pitt” or “Search for: brad pitt”).
Popularity is knocking on their door. Drawn by the single “Busta Paga”, in 2003 Bread Pitt publish their first cd, “Bread Pitt”. And it’s Breadpittmania! Due to the notoriety, they spend their days picking (without authorization) mushrooms and building (alike without authorization) their recording studio.
2005 is the year of the concept-album La scienza va premiata, used as a “psychic soothing” in mental hospitals.
While touring for the cd promotion, Bread Pitt knew Dr.Watson – father of enformy – in person, and begun the research on Ipseon. In 2006, under clinical hypnosis, they record Tapes: a tribute to electro-pastoral afro-punk improvisation. 2007 is the year of Ipseon, 10 ipsophonic tracks recorded in the stillness of Piano del Monaco’s Farm.
After a short vanishing, on february 29th, 2008 Bread Pitt back home with Summer is boring, an ipsophonic journey into the plasticity of the brain.
Not satisfied with official prevailing discography’s standards, Bread Pitt get cracked at construction of new ipsophonic sound acquiring machines and record non fate allarme: the first certified IPSO 9001 recordings by International Electrotechnical Commission.
The dual release is available on cassette in the DGHD shop, with Ipseon on one side, and Non Fate Allarme on the other side, complete with a reversible j-card.
This is the first of many partnerships that DGHD – In the meantime, keep your eyes peeled for more integration with Lepers back catalog, or go explore it yourself!!
